As the drive to your accommodation goes on, you will experience what probably you’ve never experienced before, you will encounter Boda boda, several Matatus as well as Muchomo vendors on the road side.
Your journey to Kibale Forest is extremely charming, driving through Tea estates road side markets enjoying the beauty of the green peal of Africa.
Located south of the town Fort Portal, this largely forested park, covers an area of 795km2 and it is best known for its number and variety of primates, which include Uganda’s largest population of chimpanzees.
Kibale’s varied altitude supports different types of habitats ranging from tropical forest to woodland and savannah on the rift valley floor. Kibale is one of Africa’s foremost research sites for tropical forest biology. East of the Rwenzori Mountain, the landscape is dotted with volcanic crater lakes and carpeted with tea plantations and tropical forest. The various ecosystems in this area are believed to harbor the highest density of primates in Africa. The rare red colobus monkey as well as the black and white colobus are just some of the primates you may encounter as you do your forest walks here. You will transfer to Semuliki Valley National Park
Early morning of day 4 you will leave Murchison Falls after your Breakfast and embark on the 7-hour Journey to Semuliki national park, you will stop over in Hoima for lunch. Passing through Masindi and Hoima towns a view of Lake Albert will be captured. Upon reaching Semuliki you will take a Night game drive; this is the only park with surprises which offers a spot-lit night game drive. Giant cats are seen and the tiny genet and serval cats. Bizarre night inhabitants also show up like white-tailed mongoose and slender mongoose depending on the time of year.
After breakfast, you will head for a short-guided track near Ntandi, Sempaya hot springs, which happens to be the most exciting activity in Semuliki national park. Sempaya hot springs is the remarkable natural attraction found in Semuliki National Park at the edge of the great Ituri Forest on the borders of Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Once at the spring, it is thrilling to see steamy hot water boiling at approximately 103 degrees Celsius, bubbling and jetting out of the ground. you may as well have the honor of boiling eggs and cooking matooke (plantain) in the hot waters.
Afterward, we could get on a boat trip on Lake Albert to appreciate nature. There are clearer views of the Rwenzori Mountains, the hippos, a rich birdlife like the shoebill and move on to visit the fishing villages.
You can visit Semuliki reserve on the south of Lake Albert before returning for overnight. The oldest national reserve in Uganda since 1932. Some of its attractions involve primates like the vervet Monet, black and white colobus, red-tailed monkey, olive baboon. Other animals include Uganda Kobs, lions, large herds of buffalos, elephants, Defassa waterbuck, Jackson’s Hartebeest. There are birds also like Abyssinians ground hornbill and a grantee place for you to see the rare and sought aver African shoebill.
Early morning after your Breakfast you will leave semuliki for Kampala-Entebbe for your connecting freight at the airport.
