Arriving to a new and foreign has never been easy at any one moment. One is always full of anxiety. This is certainly the case for a first visit to Uganda. Your journey to Kibale Forest is extremely charming, driving through Tea estates road side markets enjoying the beauty of the green peal of Africa.
Located south of the town Fort Portal, this largely forested park, covers an area of 795km2 and it is best known for its number and variety of primates, which include Uganda’s largest population of chimpanzees.
Kibale’s varied altitude supports different types of habitat ranging from tropical forest to woodland and savannah on the rift valley floor. Kibale is one of Africa’s foremost research sites for tropical forest biology. East of the Rwenzori mountain, the landscape is dotted with volcanic crater lakes and carpeted with tea plantations and tropical forest. The various ecosystems in this area are believed to harbor the highest density of primates in Africa. The rare red colobus monkey as well as the black and white colobus are just some of the primates you may encounter as you do your forest walks here. The climax of a trip to Kibale Forest will be to observe the entertaining chimpanzees.

Kibale’s varied altitude supports different types of habitat ranging from tropical forest to woodland and savannah on the rift valley floor. the rare red colobus monkeys as well as the black and white colobus are just some of the primates that will be on your bucket list as you do your forest walk and birding here. After your lunch, the entire afternoon may be spent viewing some beautiful craters like Nyabikere, Lyantonde, Kyaninga from where you will retire for your evening as you will be preparing for chimpanzee tracking the next day.
Whilst Chimpanzees can be found in 21 countries across Africa, they easily sighted in Uganda due to the high concentration of the species here. This will be your memorable chance to track them. With an experienced guide, you will be able to track down the chimpanzees in the forest. you will have the opportunity to stare at them from a close range Watching them interact with each other and go about their daily routine of grooming, playing and foraging is an incredible experience.
Wheras you have high chances of encountering chimpanzees during your tracking excursion, it will never be never 100% guaranteed. These are, after all, wild animals with wills and minds of their own a great deal of distance may be walked in search of them!
From tracking chimpanzees, you will transfer to Queen Elizabeth for your next expedition.
This is Uganda’s most visited National park and it is believed to be the most scenic. Queen Elizabeth National Park protects the vast savannah plains, bushland, wetlands and forests that lie at the base of the Rwenzori mountain range. The Kazinga Channel, which flows through the park and connects Lake George to Lake Edward, attracts a rich collection of animals and birds, including the famous Nile crocodile and a large collection of hippos. You will explore the 200-kilometre network of well-maintained game viewing tracks on your first day of game drive. You will retire for an evening in the lodges located in the escarpments.
Well and fully refreshed, you are more than prepared to track the lions, here you will be guided by the research team, off the safari jeep tracks and into the bush, in search of one of the lion prides in the park. With a tracking device in the vehicle will lead you directly to the lions where you will spend some time observing these fascinating cats. Se the amazing and fierce like kings of the Jungle.
Later in the day when the sun is high in the sky and the animals make their way to the channel to quench their thirst, here we shall head to Kazinga Channel for a private launch cruise. From here you will spot more hippos than you can imagine. Elephants and buffalo will also wander down to the shoreline to bathe in the cooling waters. With a boat cruise its one and the best way of getting closer to the animals and its always a highlight to many tourists.
Having had a beautiful exposition of the Queen Elizabeth National Park for the Last two nights, it’s time to feel the breeze of other beautiful and fascinating destinations. Your journey now continues to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, the home of the Mountain Gorillas of Uganda.
In the afternoon you will be introduced to the communities which live in the outskirts of the forest and welcomed to support the locally founded and managed women’s empowerment initiative. Join these local women as they go about their daily lives and learn how to weave baskets, sew with traditional fabrics or cook a delicious Ugandan meal.
For the next two nights of your stay in Bwindi you will have a spectacular view over the forest with a breath of the fine uncontaminated air.
