Mgahinga Expedition & Virunga Hike
Mgahinga Gorilla national park is one of the best safari destinations that will give you a memorable holiday stay in the Pearl of Africa. Located at the border with Rwanda in the Virungas, this park is where you will track both the rare mountain Gorillas and the Golden monkeys. This is on addition to the rewarding mount Gahinga, Sabinyo and Muhavura. These scenic hikes will get you immersed in the true African Jungle that you will forever live to remember.
From your early morning breakfast at your hotel of residence, you will get in touch with our guide to embark on your 10-hour 480km journey to Mgahinga National Park. You will have several stopovers at places of interest and for refreshing like the major stop over at the Major Latitude the equator for photo shooting. You could can stop in Mbarara or Kabale for Lunch depending on the nature of the day. This beautiful park will welcome you with its beautiful views of the highlands ideal for sunset photography. Upon arrival to the park, you will be transferred to your hotel of residence for dinner and overnight stay.
This will be a day that you will forever remain memorable. After breakfast, you will depart from the lodge ready with your packed lunch for the Gorilla tracking experience. With your guide you will be briefed after meeting the rangers before heading into the forest. There are high chances of meeting several other animal species during the tracking experience.
You will have a wonderful experience in the jungle from where you will spend hours with the gorillas and photography sessions. You will later return in the evening for dinner and having a rest
The Virunga hiking experience is one of a wonder, it will be embarked on as early as 7:00am after briefing from a ranger. To have the best possible experience, hikers need to move with light snacks, drinking water, a walking stick, hiking boots, warm stockings, hand gloves, rain jackets, insect repellents and sunscreen. Good hiking shoes are very important for a Mount Muhabura hike especially during the wet season. Don’t forget to travel with a good camera and binoculars. You will need the binoculars to have clearer views of the distant volcanoes and other landmarks. A good camera helps capture good photos to show your friends and family.
You will need between 5-7 hours of this expedition where u will have your packed lunch along with you and your hiking gear as highlighted above.
You will come back later in the evening for your relaxation after a full day of exhaustion
In the morning after your morning breakfast. Before Departure you can take a brief boat ride at Lake mutanda where you can have a view of the foggy atmosphere and variety of bird species. From there you will depart for kampala where u will have a stop over for your Lunch in Mbarara and from there you will ascend to Entebbe airport to catch up your connecting.
