What you need to know

You will explore Prison Island that was established in 1893 by the former British prime minister of Zanzibar who bought and built a prison complex at the island but was not used only to serve as a quarantine station for station for yellow fever cases. Also you will take glance of Nakupenda beach in the middle of the ocean. 

You will also explore the industry of spices that popularized the island and learn more about the island’s rich history as you explore the various spices of Zanzibar which are used in almost every kitchen on earth, such as cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, garlic, lemongrass, turmeric, ginger, vanilla, nutmeg, among others and their various functions.

You will also take on Nakupenda beach literally meaning 'I love you' - beach, you will enjoy the beautiful sandy beach in the middle of the ocean, put in your snorkelling gear end explore the sea life, as well as having lunch at the beach. 

Having spent a night at your hotel, you will embark on a memorable day this memorable day with a boat trip to Prison Island, or Quarantine Island, located in the Zanzibar.
Established in 1893 by the former British prime minister of Zanzibar who bought and built a prison complex at the island but was not used only to serve as a quarantine station for station for yellow fever cases. It presently serves as stay for tourists and it is in this place where you'll be able to relax a bit and enjoy magnificent views. You will enjoy seeing and feeding the giant tortoises which were donated to by the governor of Seychelles in 1919. They found Prison Island a great environment and bred freely and today many tortoises are welcoming you, and the first settlers are still among them!

There is also a nursery for baby tortoises, where you can see baby tortoises of different ages. You will round up this day with some snorkeling around the coral reefs, admire colourful fish, many beautiful starfish, and picturesque seashells., or simply relax on the white sandy beach. Upon your return admire the breathtaking view of Stone Town and the bay. 

SPICE FARMS
You will proceed to explore the industry of spices that popularized the island. You will also learn more about the island’s rich history on this the guided tour that lasts three hours, you will explore the various spices of Zanzibar which are used in almost every kitchen on earth, such as cinnamon, cloves, black pepper, garlic, lemongrass, turmeric, ginger, vanilla, nutmeg, among others and their various functions.

A journey to Nakupenda will start at your hotel where you will be picked as you start this fun day visit to the sand bank. The island of Nakupenda literally meaning 'I love you', its where you will indeed will feel loved- the gentle sand will spill over your feet while walking, the mellow waves will caress your body as you feel heaven on earth.

You will Swim, sunbathe and snorkel under the crystal-clear waters of the Indian ocean. After those beautiful dives, you you will be ready for your delicious beach lunch, including grilled sea foods like the shrimps, squid, octopus, lobster, and langoustine depending on the catch of the day. After your lunch it will be time for a new adventure as you kiss goodbye to Nakupenda beach and board a boat for a good-half-an-hour ride to Prison Island, also known as Changuu island.
