Rongai Route
From the vast plains of viewing the snowcapped Kilimanjaro, the Rongai Route begins in attractive farmland and delightful forest, with the opportunity for viewing some wild game, the route will lead you through several different climate zones, adding considerably to the interest of the trek. This route retains a sense of unspoilt wilderness and offers a different perspective on Kilimanjaro by approaching it from the north. From the alluring summit of Uhuru Peak (5895m), we will have amazing 360-degree views of the surrounding plains one at the summit
Depending on where you will have relaxed for your previous night, Arusha or Moshi, you will be picked after breakfast and head to Marangu gate climber Preliminaries. You will then transfer to Rongai Gate, which is located roughly two and a half hours drive. You will walk through the fields of corn and lush pine forest ascending towards 1st Caves Camp where you will stay for dinner and an overnight
At the caves camp you will enjoy your morning breakfast before beginning your long ascent towards the next cave, the Kikelewa cave. You will stop briefly at the 2nd Caves Camp before arriving at Kikelewa for a hot lunch and an evening relaxation as you appreciate how high you have started to ascend viewing the low-lying plains.
You will take it from 3,600m at Kikelewa to 4,330m at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, this will be a short hike but steep which may make you so exhausted. You will pass through scrubby alpine moorland dotted landscape with plants you have never encountered anywhere on the planet. At Mawenzi Tarn it boasts of a spectacular view and ominous towers of stone, making it unique for camping experience, you will relax for camping and refreshments followed by an overnight.
From this camp you will hike for the next 4 to 5 hours today towards Kibo hut in the Kibo Saddle between the Mawenzi and Kibo peaks and you will pass through the true alpine desert where you will have relaxation and an overnight at Kibo hut ahead of the big day of attempting the summit.
Your climbing team will wake you up to start on your last segment of the summit, you will wake up earlier after midnight to prepare for your adventure ahead. You will hike in darkness for 5 to 6 hours, only to arrive at Stella Point a few hours before dawn. And from here, you will intensely hike for another two hours before reaching ultimate goal Uhuru Peak, the climax of your expedition. You will Stand at 5,985m and experience a spectacular sunrise and take in the panoramic views at the rooftop of Africa. After a memorable photo moment, you will descend back to horombo Hut via Kibo Hut for camping and celebration.
You will enjoy the last breakfast on the mountain before descending to the Marangu Gate nearly a 20 kms walk downhill from where you will celebrate with your porters and guides and collect your certificate of completion. You will then be driven to Moshi or Arusha for an extended rest.
