Sea Adventure & Jozani forest
What you need to know
You will take on this sea adventure and will have a chance to explore the coastal line of Zanzibar by a traditional sailing dhow boat. Starting in south-west part of Zanzibar in the renowned Fumba village it will take you along the shores to the best diving spots, where you will put on your snorkelling gear and explore the life.
You will also explore the Jozani forest which is the the only remaining natural forest of Unguja covering an area of 10 square kms with trees older than 100 years. The forest is also a sanctuary for some very interesting animals, including the Red Colobus monkey, the small Zanzibar leopard, blue monkey, chameleon, mongoose, bush babies, tree hyrax, bush pig, civet among other small mammals.
You will start your full-day Sea Adventure experience by embarking on a traditional dhow from the Fumba fishing village. Introduced the by the Arabs, the dhow was a trading vessel used by the Swahili.
The dhow you will sail you to get to know the sea and shores of Zanzibar, islands and coral reefs of a pristine conservation region, the Menai Bay, with a chance to take a dip in front of the naturally occurring sandbanks. After a deep refreshing swim dives, you will rest on the white sand under the coconut tree shades. You will appreciate the crystal-clear turquoise water and the dolphins as they swim around the area.
You will visit a 200 hundred years old baobab tree, and the persistent ones may try to climb it and enjoy breathtaking views. With a little luck, you may have a chance to see gigantic coconut crabs, living in the hollow trunk.
Another great opportunity for a swim is in a mangrove lagoon on Kwale Island. Swimming through the branches is quite a special experience! Fingers crossed for a high tide to even enhance it. In between, you'll sink into the deep blue with your mask and snorkel, swim, even with the dolphins around you, where after you will relax for your lunch before.

Jozani Chwaka bay national park or shortly Jozani forest is Zanzibars only national park, and although quite small, 50 square km only, it's bursting with life in all its forms.
It has an Amazing sky-high tree, mangrove areas, and the Medicine jungle are a tranquil home to rare red Colobus monkeys and even rearer, hard to spot endemic Zanzibar Sykes’ monkey, two endemic antelope species, Zanzibar leopard, blue monkeys, chameleons, mongoose, tree hyrax, bush pigs, civets, 50 different species of butterflies and 40 species of birds.
The forest is also a natural pharmacy, an amazing source of natural remedies! Every tree or plant cures something. Through a net work of tracks with your experienced guide, you will receive amazing information on the plant's use. Through the tracks you will go through the mangrove habitat, where you can easily spot some fish and crabs. Jozani forest will be an amazing trip to remember never to forget Zanzibar.
